A SCRATCH Tigers side bowed out of the EDG Energy National Trophy at the fourth round stage, going down 14-31 to a near full strength Nottingham outfit at Park Lane.

With the likes of: Chris Hall, Chris Briers, Jamie Albinson, Gerallt Evans, Jonny Roddam, Martin Halsall, Tim Fourie, Ed Norris and Ledua Jope rested, Henry Monsell, Tom Albinson, Jason Duffy Gareth Roberts, Mark Jones and Dave Livesey were given starts, while on the bench were the second string's Andy Duckworth, Joe Redfern, Andy Clegg, Dom Kohler and Pete Roberts - all got game time along with Petrus Du Plessis and Paul Keys

Therefore up against an almost first choice Green and Whites' side it was always going to be a struggle but the Tigers nevertheless posed some problems for the visitors, with coaching partnership Tim Fourie and Andy Northey able to experiment with different players in different positions.

Having already beaten Nottingham in ND1 at Park Lane this game will have given neither coach any further insight into the opposition's strengths and weaknesses for when they clash at Meadow Lane on March 31.

For the record, the Tigers' points came from two converted tries, one in each half, with Ben Lloyd going over in the first half and Henry Monsell in the second, both impressively converted by Matt Riley

Full report to follow.
