Esher 15 Coventry 12

Esher: Tries: Campbell (4), Penalty try (74). Con: Damant. Pen: Damant (55).

Coventry: Tries: McGlone (9), Clayton (39). Con: Dorrian. 

Esher picked up a valuable win at home to Coventry to move up to 11th in the league table.     

Hooker James Campbell gave the home side the lead with a 4th minute try and a 5-0 lead. Back came Coventry with a ninth minute try from No 8 Laurence McGlone it was all square.

With half time approaching the visitors were in front with flanker Darren Clayton going over for a try and this time Miles Dorrian converted to send them in 12-5 ahead.

On 55 minutes Esher pulled three points back with a penalty goal form replacement fly half Rory Damant. What was the winning score came on 74 minutes as they were awarded a penalty try by referee Rowan Kitt and Damant converted for the win. 

 

Cornish All Blacks 18 Exeter Chiefs 25

CAB: Tries: Birkett (24), Bolt (65). Con: Ireland. Pen: Ireland (4). DG: Fabian (32).

Chiefs: Tries: Hanks (14), Gray (19), Luff (45). Cons: Gray 2. Pens: Gray (8, 52).

Exeter Chiefs were given a run for their money by the Cornish All Blacks but came though and made it nine wins out of ten whilst the home side remain 2nd bottom.      

The home side took the lead on four minutes when Scott Ireland put over a penalty goal. Four minutes later and the Chiefs were level after Danny Gray replied for the visitors. They went ahead on 14 minutes when second row James Hanks went over the home try line and an 8-3 lead. Five minutes later it was 15-3 as Gray went over and slotted over the conversion.

Back came the home side wit Full Back Andrew Birkett touching down and Ireland converted. Just after the half hour mark Jon Fabian dropped a goal for the home side and they were just two points down 15-13 which was the half time score. 

Five minutes into the second half the visitors went further ahead with winger Jason Luff going over for his 10th try of the season, Gray converted and they were 22-13 ahead.

Soon after Gray slotted a 2nd penalty goal for a 12 point lead.

The home side responded with a 2nd try as replacement prop Jason Bolt went over and in the end it gave them a losing bonus point as it was the last score of the match.

   

London Welsh 10 Bedford Blues 23

Welsh: Try: Mackey (19). Con: Ulph. Pen: Ulph (15).

Blues: Tries: Pritchard (38), Dickson (52). Cons: Elrick 2. Pens: Elrick 2 (6, 30), Pritchard (64). 

Bedford Blues are up to sixth place after this away win at London Welsh who drop down to 12th in the table.     

Jon Elrick kicked the visitors into a 3-0 lead on six minutes. The home side responded well and were level on 15 minutes with a Sam Ulph penalty goal and four minutes  later they were in front after centre Paul Mackay went over for a try and Ulph converted for 10-3.

On the half hour Elrick put over a second penalty goal before a late try in the half saw the Blues in front as left wing James Pritchard touched down and Elrick converted for 13-10.

12 minutes into the second half the Blues were further ahead after scrum half Karl Dickson went over and Elrick converted. The final score came form the boot of Pritchard who took over the kicking after Elrick was replaced.

 

Moseley 11 Doncaster 18

Moseley: Try: Adam (1). Pens: Jones 2 (45, 74).

Doncaster: Tries: Wilson (7), Hunt (35). Con: Woodrow. Pens: Woodrow 2 (13, 23).

Doncaster stay in second after this away win at Moseley and make it nine wins out of ten whilst Moseley remain in 10th place.      

Moseley were first on the score sheet when centre Jack Adams went in the first minutes for an unconverted try and a 5-0 lead. Seven minutes later and Doncaster are in front as No 8 Glen Wilson touched down and Mark Woodrow converted.  Woodrow extended the lead with penalty goals on 13 and 23 minutes and with half time approaching went 18-5 ahead as centre Brad Hunt touched down.

In the second half Matt Jones pulled a penalty back five minutes in to make it a 10 point game. Jones added a second on 74 minutes to narrow the lead to seven and get the home side a losing bonus point.

   

Northampton Saints 60 Pertemps Bees 19

Saints: Tries: Kydd 2 (6, 40), Myler 2 (10, 69), Spencer (24), Tonga’uiha (44), Hartley (59), Easter (66), Diggin 2 (79, 80). Cons: Myler 5.  

Bees: Tries: Pearl (19), Davidson (31), Maggs (56). Cons: Higgins 2. 

The Saints made it ten wins out of ten with 10 tries against the Pertemps Bees at Franklins’ Gardens.     

It took the Saints six minutes for the games opening try as centre Robbie Kydd went over and soon after fly half Stephen Myler got the second home try and they were 10-0 ahead.

The Bees responded and hooker Stewart Pearl went over to get them on the board.

Just before the half hour full back Carlos Spencer but the Bees refused to go away as second row Alex Davidson went over and Jon Higgins converted to make it 15-12.

Deep into time added on Kydd got a second try and Myler converted to send the Saints in 22-12.

In the second half the home side added six more tries with Myler completing a double and replacement back Paul Diggin getting a late brace. There was also a try for Dylan Hartley as he continues his comeback from suspension with another appearance as a second half replacement.

   

Plymouth Albion 15 Rotherham Titans 0

Albion: Pens: Laidlaw 5 (40, 51, 57, 68, 76).

Plymouth Albion are up into eighth place in the table after this win over the Titans in a try less match.

It took till the 40th minute of the first half for the opening sc re as fly half Ross Laidlaw slotted over a penalty goal with his second attempt of the afternoon.       

In the second half he added four more kicks to keep the scoreboard ticking and Albion took the win and stopped the visitors getting on the scoreboard. The visitors did play 20 minutes with 14 players having two players in the sin bin in the second half. 

 

Sedgley Park 13 Cornish Pirates 20

Park: Try: Payne (69). Con: Jones. Pens: Jones 2 (33, 49).

Pirates: Tries: Thomas (27), Steenson (63). Cons: Steenson. Pens: Steenson 2 (4, 74).

The Cornish Pirates are given a tough match by Sedgley Park as they make it eight wins for the season whilst Park slip to an eighth defeat of the season.       

Fly half Gareth Steenson put the visitors ahead on four minutes with a penalty goal. The Pirates went in for the games first try on 27 minutes when full back Ollie Thomas touched down and Steenson converted for 10-0.

Before half time the home side got on the scoreboard when Phil Jones slotted over a penalty goal to back to within a score of the Pirates.

Nine minutes into the 2nd half Jones put over another penalty goal but the Pirates went over for a 2nd try just after the hour mark to go 17-6 ahead with Steenson going over and then slotting the conversions.

On 67 minutes Park were right back in it when winger Freeman Payne went over for a try and Jones converted to make it a four point game.

Steenson gave then a seven point lead again with a penalty goal on 74 minutes with what was the final score of the match. 

 

Nottingham 31 Newbury 19

Nottingham: Tries: Smith 2 (2, 20), Hall (32), Molenaar (80). Cons: Tonks 4. Pen: Tonks. Newbury: Tries: Perkins (17), Fincken (40), Hylton (57) Cons: Walsh 2.

Nottingham are up into 4th place after this home win over Newbury who drop down to 14th in the league table.

The home side were ahead after just two minutes with centre Matt Smith touching down and winger Greg Tonks converted. Newbury were next to score as centre Sebastian Perkins touched down for an unconverted try on 17 minutes.

Three minutes later and Smith went over to complete a double and with Tonks again converting for a 14-5 lead. Just after the half hour mark and prop Nigel Hall went over and Tonks again converted for 21-5. Just before the half time whistle the visitors were back in it when hooker Paul Fincken went over and Tim Walsh converted.

17 minutes into the second half and Newbury were back within two of the home side after full back John Hylton touched down and Walsh converted.

Tonks put over a 68th minute penalty goal to make it a five point game before centre Tim Molenaar clinched the win on 80 minutes and Tonks converted in injury time.
