Lewis McKay SEDGLEY Park junior Lewis McKay is just a couple of steps away from England selection. The William Hulme GS pupil has been selected to take part in the North of England Under 16s’ Final Trial this Saturday at Cheadle Hulme School.
The game will decide who makes it into the final 22 for the North team that will then compete in an inter-divisional series of games from which the final England squad will be chosen.
After a gruelling Develoment Weekend at Sheffield’s Mount St Mary’s College, 41 potential internationals were named for the North Division’s Final Trial.
Following the game the North 16 Group squad will have a weekend training session in January at King Edwards & Queen Mary School, Lytham, which includes a warm-up match against Lancashire Under 17s.
A week later the squad moves onto the Divisional Festival at Broadstreet RUFC (Coventry) where the initial England selection will be made.
