Doncaster 22 Nottingham 10

Doncaster: Tries: Hunt (64). Con: Woodrow. Pens: Woodrow 5 (9, 31, 45, 71, 77)      

Nottingham: Try: Smith (27). Con: Tonks. Pen: Tonks (39).       

Doncaster up into third place as they move above Nottingham in the table after this home success thanks to the boot of Mark Woodrow who slotted over six of his seven kicks at goal. 

Woodrow gave the home side the lead on nine minutes when Woodrow slotted over a penalty goal and they held that lead till the 27th minute when centre Matt Smith went on for the games opening try and Greg Tonks converted.

Late in the half Woodrow and Tonks exchanged penalty goals and the visitors went in 10-6 ahead.

Woodrow reduced the lead on 45 minutes with a third penalty goal but it took till the 64th minute for them to take the lead. Centre Brad Hunt went over for a try and Woodrow was on target with the conversion.

Woodrow rounded off the win late on with two more penalty goals to deprive Nottingham of a bonus point.    

 

Bedford Blues 14 Exeter Chiefs 12 

Blues: Try: Page (40). Pen: Pritchard (15). DG: Patston 2 (42, 80).      

Chiefs: Tries: Johnson (54), Blythe (76). Con: Yapp.       

Bedford Blues picked up an excellent home win over Exeter Chiefs and consolidated sixth place with Plymouth losing at home to Northampton Saints.   

Centre James Pritchard gave the home side the lead with a 15th minute penalty goal and the only other score of the half came on 40 minutes when left wing Alex Page went over for the games opening try and an 8-0 lead at the break.

Two minutes into the 2nd half and fly half Ben Patston put over a drop goal to make it 11-0.

12 minutes later and the Chiefs were off the mark with a try from No 8 Tom Johnson and Tony Yapp converted having come on as a replacement for the injured Danny Gray.   

The Chiefs looked to have sneaked it when their prolific hooker Sam Blythe went over for a try and they were 12-11 ahead on 76 minutes.

Patston had other ideas and dropped his 2nd goal of the match three minutes into injury time to snatch a win for the Blues and leave the Chiefs 10 points adrift of the Saints.   

 

London Welsh 16 Pertemps Bees 10

Welsh: Try: Chiltern (66). Con: Jones. Pens: Jones 3 (40, 45, 57).      

Bees: Try: Daish (33). Con: P Knight. Pen: P Knight (2).       

London Welsh are up into 10th place after a home win over the Bees who picked up a losing bonus point to move off the bottom of the table.

The Bees were on the scoreboard on two minutes when Paul Knight put over a 2nd minute penalty goal. They got the games opening try on 33 minutes when flanker Andy Daish went over and Knight converted for a 10-0 lead.

In first half injury time the home side got on the board when Matthew Jones put over a penalty goal.

Jones put over penalty goals on 45 and 57 minutes to make it a one point game.

The winning score came on 66 minutes when replacement scrum half Allan Chiltern went over and Jones converted in what was the last scoring act of the match.    

 

Rotherham 13 Coventry 25

Titans: Try:  Jacobsz (32). Con: Lennard. Pens: Lennard 2 (3, 14).      

Cov: Tries: O Hodge (18), Montague (22), Rheeders (59). Cons: Russell 2. DG: Davey 2 (48, 56).       

The Titans were first on the scoreboard and opened up a 6-0 lead with two Jamie Lennard penalty goals in the opening 14 minutes.

Coventry were on the scoreboard on 18 minutes when second row Ollie Hodge went over for a try. Four minutes later they were in front as winger Sam Montague went over and this time Ben Russell converted for a 12-6 lead.

Just after the half hour mark and the Titans were back in front as flanker Stephanus Jacobsz went over and Lennard converted for 13-12 which was the score at the break.

Two drop goals form Coventry centre Brett Davies, which equalled the club record for a match, in the first 16 minutes of the half saw the visitors take the lead and go out into an 18-13 lead.

Just before the hour mark they got a third try as replacement back row forward Henry Rheeders went over for a try and Davey converted for a 12 point lead which they held through the final quarter.    

 

Sedgley Park 13 Esher 15 

Park: Try: Craig (32). Con: Jones. Pens: Jones 2 (6, 50).       

Esher: Tries: Flockhart (57), Slemen (73). Con: Hallett. Pen: Slemen (24).       

Esher continued their excellent season with another away win in a tight match against Sedgley Park coming back late in the game form a 13-3 deficit.

Phil Jones gave the home side the lead on six minutes with a penalty goal.

Dave Slemen levelled on 24 minutes with Esher’s opening score of the match. Just after the half hour mark the home side were ahead again as centre Andy Craig went over for a try and Jones converted and they led 10-3 at the break.

Jones made it 13-3 on 50 minutes with a penalty goal.

Left wing Doug Flockhart went over for Esher’s first try on 57 minutes to get within five of the home side.

The winning score came on 73 minutes when Slemen went over to level the scores and the conversion gave them the win.    

 

Plymouth Albion 5 Northampton Saints 44 

Albion: Try: Hayes (39).       

Saints: Tries: Downey 2 (18, 74), Reihana (40), Myler (58), Ashton (63), Spencer (79), Reihana (80). Cons: Reihana 2, Myler. DG: Spencer (31).     

After a tight first half the Saints pulled away in the second half for a comfortable win and moved 10 points clear of the Exeter Chiefs with a game in hand.  

It took the visitors 18 minutes to get on the scoreboard as centre James Downey went over for a try and Bruce Reihana converted for a 7-0 lead. Carlos Spencer made it 10-0 with a drop goal just after the half hour mark. Second row Tom Hayes went over for Albion but the Saints got a third try late in the half as Reihana went over to make it 15-5 at the break.

It took them 18 minutes of the half for the next score as full back Stephen Myler went over to secure the try bonus point. Five minutes later and winger Chris Ashton went over and Myler added the conversion for a 27-5 lead.

Three tries in the last six minutes wrapped up the win for the visitors with Downey completing a double.     

 

Cornish Pirates 28 Newbury 6

Pirates: Tries: Devlin (19), Betty (76), Moore (80). Cons: Steenson 2. Pens: Steenson 3 (2, 39, 75).      

Blues: Pens: Ashwin 2 (7, 62).      

The Pirates remain in fifth place after this home win over Newbury and will be disappointed to again miss out on a try bonus point.

The Pirates were ahead on two minutes when fly half Gareth Steenson put over a penalty goal for a 3-0 lead Five minutes later and the visitors were level after Fly half Chris Ashwin put over his first attempt of the afternoon.

Just before the end of the first quarter the home side were over for the games first try as centre Paul Devlin went over and Steenson converted for 10-3 and added a late penalty to give the home side a 10 point lead at the break.

Ashwin pulled three points back for the visitors but the Pirates finished strongly with 15 points in the last five minutes as Steenson put over a penalty goal and then they ran in two tries from flanker Sam Betty and ringer James Moore to run out comfortable winners in the end.
