Bateman BMW Premiership

In total contrast to the excitement of the previous week’s leadership battle, Sedgley now played the bottom club with all too predictable results. The two teams should not have had to share a pitch.

Tom Albinson scored the first try inside a minute, and Phil Largan had his hat-trick inside the first twenty. Eight tries were scored in the first half, nine in the second.

To the credit of all concerned, Sedgley played their usual game without getting white-line fever, the referee brought calm control to a potentially tricky match, and Lymm kept on playing without trying to kill the game or moaning too much.

Tries: Albinson 2, Largan 4, Taylor, Monsell, Leader 2, Livesey 2, Clegg, Köhler, O’Hare, Woolley, Macauley.

Conv: Köhler 11

Already missing Matt Smith and Matt Lamprey, Sedgley could have done without the injury to Rob Leigh late in the game. However, in Ollie Macauley, Luke Woolley and Dean Williams, Sedgley have three young forwards of great ability and potential.

Just to put the game in perspective, please note that Fylde 3rd beat Ruskin Park 2nd 124-0 on the same day.

Ruskin Park had won the earlier fixture 36-12; some revenge!
