The outcomes of the meeting were: 

• Put plans in motion to create a Emerging/Development Squad (name yet to be decided). The team will consist of current Junior and Senior colts players with a view to attracting previous players who have left the club or players wishing to continue their rugby while at University. The squad will have it own specific coaches and management structure.  The squad would train regularly with a view to arranging a competitive fixture each month on a Wednesday playing on the 1st Team pitch.

• To explore strengthen the 2nd XV fixture list by playing 5/6 additional games in the season against stronger opposition on a midweek night.  This would require an larger pool of players to at times fulfil  three fixtures in a week.  It is believed this could be achieved from the support of the 1stXV Squad/bench, existing 2ndXV players and the Emerging/Development Squad.

The benefits of the 2 initiatives would be:

• To create more opportunities for players to continue playing rugby after leaving Senior Colts.
• To offer ex players an avenue back into rugby and an opportunity for University students to be represent their club.
• To feed players into a more competitive Sedgley Park 3rd Team and 2nd Team.
• To offer aspiring 2ndXV/Junior players the opportunity to develop in a strengthened 2ndXV fixture list.

The working group will meet on the 14th April to discuss feedback on the following points:

• Opposition and Squad of players identified for the Emerging/Development team. 
• Approaches to Stronger opposition for the 2nd XV midweek games..
• Consultation with Key personnel in supporting the initiatives..
