Lancashire Plate Quarter Final - Southport came out in the first half looking the stronger team, with an early try from Simon Parr with a brilliant conversion in such windy conditions by Luke Smith.  Southport followed this with another try, this time by Sam Williams, unluckly not converted.

The second half was a different story when sedgley lads came out fighting and a try by Sam Smith gave them the boost they needed and so a second try came shortly after by Dean Leech.

The rest of the match saw all the play near Southports try line as Sedgley battled to take the lead.

The efforts finally paid off when Oliver Carroll dived over the line making Sedgley in the lead 15 to 12.

With minutes to go the referee gave southport a scrum at sedgleys try line, it was a nail biting end as Southport tried to make a last bid comeback, but Sedgley were to hang on until the final whistle and will now go on to the semi finals in two weeks time.
