The team will be fully recognised by Lancashire RFU and supported by SPRUFC. It is envisaged that the team will initially play one or possibly two games each month on weekday evenings, under floodlights, from September 2008.

The team will be coached by experienced and professional coaching staff at Sedgley Park. It is not the intention of Sedgley Park RUFC to entice young players away from their existing rugby clubs, but our aim is to encourage young players to carry on playing our sport during their first years employment and their time at College or University. Also to develop their game further so that when they do return to their own clubs they will be better prepared.

To this end, it is intended that any player who would like to play for the team will be allowed to play in their own club socks to show their continuing commitment to their home rugby club.
