Tim Fourie TIM Fourie takes his Sedgley Tigers up to North Yorkshire to face National Division Three North side Wharfedale tomorrow (kick-off 7.30pm),
but he will be without his contingent of Leeds Carnegie players signed on loan for the forthcoming season.
He is also likely to be missing hookers Jonny Roddam and Gareth Roberts; the former is nursing a sore neck while the latter is till recovering
from a minor knee operation. Both will be undergoing fitness tests.
As cover Fourie will include second team prop Danny Greenhalgh, who has played hooker before. Another not making the trip is summer signing
Sam Moore, who is away on holiday. However, there may be one or two ‘guest’ players given an opportunity to show what they can do.
“I have always admired Wharfedale,” said Fourie: “They always put out competitive teams full of home-grown players who they try to keep for as long
as possible. They always play an expansive, exciting game and will no doubt be just as tough to beat as they usually are.
“Apart from that the ground is in a beautiful setting; the people are always friendly and with the new season almost upon us I’m excited and
really looking forward to it.
“Not only will we have one or two new players on show, it will also be the first time we’ll have played under the new Experimental Law Variations
(ELVs), so I’m hoping to learn a lot.”
