CONGRATULATIONS to Steve Hazzelby and the boys as the Second XV beat Fylde 46-17 at Park Lane on Saturday to retain the Bateman BMW Premier League title they first won last season.
The Premier League is what is says, the pre-eminent level in the North West Intermediate Rugby Union Leagues, and the Tigers’ 2s topped the table with 96 points from their 26 games.
Over the season the champions won 23 of their 26 fixtures, scoring 1120 points and conceding just 317.
But it has not been an easy task, as second-placed Macclesfield 2s could finish just two points adrift if they win their final game.
.
The two losses were early season at the hands of Saturday’s victims Fylde and last Wednesday’s opponents, Manchester, while they recorded a walkover against Kendal, when the Cumbrians failed to field a team back in February.
